5280 DISTANCE PROJECT
Meet the Team
We are a men's and women's elite and sub-elite running distance team, ranging from the mile to the marathon to ultras, on the road, track, and trail.
Kezzie Searle
Kezzie has always had a love for movement and being active. While she ran cross country and track in high school, she took the next 6 years to pursue rock climbing and other mountain adventures. It wasn’t until 2020 that she began to rediscover her passion for running competitively when she was recruited to run at Colorado Christian University during her graduate studies. She competed with CCU until the fall of 2021 where she helped her team make their first Cross Country National appearance. This left her motivated and excited to continue exploring her competitive running potential.

Ryder Searle
Ryder found running when he was competing in collegiate tennis at Colorado Christian University (CCU). The tennis program was cut, and Ryder only got two years competing in tennis. He was able to join the cross country and track program at CCU, and his love for running was kindled there as he went on to become a two time All-American in the NCAA Division II. He graduated from CCU in December of 2021, and he has continued running since. He loves the sport, and the community and competition that it brings. He is excited to pursue running post-collegiately in the half and full marathon distances, while also doing a few track races throughout the year.

She began running in high school, ran briefly at the University of Wisconsin Madison, and continues to pursue distance running primarily in the half marathon and marathon distances. She has shaved time off her half marathon and marathon this past year and is excited to continue to build mileage and speed to chase new PRs. Outside of running she enjoys cheering for the Wisconsin Badgers, Packers, and Brewers, hiking, and skiing.

Shari Eberhard
Shari started running in middle school to help train for soccer, but eventually made the switch to competing in xc and track & field in high school. As an alumni of Purdue University XC and TF, she loves cheering on the Big Ten and following pro runners. Shari primarily focuses on the half marathon and marathon, and her most proud accomplishment was competing in the 2020 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials held in Atlanta, GA. She hopes to qualify for the 2024 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials. In her free time, Shari loves to read and go on adventures with her kid.

Chloe Gustafson
Chloe has been running competitively since 7th grade. She’s not sure why she said yes when her friend invited her to cross country practice one day, but she is glad she did! She ran collegiately for Colorado School of Mines where she was an All American in cross country (2014) and indoor track (2015). She continued competing for another two years and reached her crowning running achievement: winner of the 2017 Antarctic Turkey Trot. After, she took some time away from racing and just ran for fun. Over the last two years, Chloe has gotten back in touch with her competitive side and has been racing anything from 5ks to half marathons. She’s continuing to chase PRs and having fun doing it. Her favorite thing about running is the friendships it has brought her over the last 18 years across the US. She hasn’t caught the marathon bug yet, but anticipates that her 5280 teammates might eventually convince her to join the fun.

Chloe Colligan
Chloe has been running ever since falling in love with the sport in middle school running the trails in Anchorage, Alaska. She furthered her passion at Colorado School of Mines where she was a 3 time All-American in track and cross country, and led the cross country team to their first-ever podium finish at NCAA’s. Since graduating in 2019, Chloe has found a love for racing on the roads and challenging herself at new distances, especially the marathon. She works full time as an engineer, but finds time to have big goals, such as qualifying for the 2024 Olympic Marathon Trials.

Ben Schneiderin
Ben started running in middle school and gradually fell in love with the sport. He credits his excellent coaches in both high school and during his collegiate tenure as a Colorado School of Mines athlete with helping him realize substantial improvements. He graduated a two-time All American before turning to focus primarily on the marathon distance as he finished his graduate degrees, and as he currently continues his postdoctoral study with a little bit of entrepreneurship mixed in. He qualified for the 2024 Olympic Trials in his third marathon at CIM in 2022 and plans to compete in Orlando in February. When he is not running, you might find him in the lab melting metal or doing any number of other somewhat less interesting tasks.

Derek Alcorn
Derek began his running journey in middle school to stay in shape for nordic skiing. He started to dedicate himself to running in 2010 once he realized the passion he had for the sport. He was a four time All-American in cross country while running at the Colorado School of Mines, but took a break from racing for a few years after graduating. It turns out that was the break he needed and once he ran his first marathon in 2022, he was hooked. His goal is to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Trials in the marathon while being the best cat-dad in town.
